With this film made by the youngsters of Centrum West with the professional guidance of Filem’on, our organization won the first prize of the SAMV (Base for Foreign Girls and Women).

Together with five artists from multiple fields of art, children and youngsters set out on a quest to find the (possible) meaning of food. They create a composition of sound, an audiovisual taste installation and a video report titled ‘Anthropology in the kitchen’ (considering eating and dining habits in different cultures). They prepare and artistic banquet as well. Anthropological, ecological, economical and artistic points of view are being used to achieve this. The results will be shown at the opening and closure of the annual Children’s Film Festival Filem’on.

In July 2011 Filem’on will go to Ghana together with WMKJ Centrum West. Our freelancers Nele Bauwens and Sandra Verkaert will collaborate with the children of the centre, the Fanfakids and the children of the locals to create a documentary with video and animation. The central theme will be food. The preparatory sessions will take place from February till June 2011. The documentary will have its premiere at the Children’s Film Festival Filem’on in November 2011.
